Dear Reader,

The Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority (GEFA) Division of Energy Resources is proud to be involved in a number of energy programs that improve the quality of life for all Georgians. We are also proud that Georgia is a national leader in the green building movement, and the partnership between GEFA and Southface is certainly helping transform the residential and commercial building markets.

While the demand for Southface educational programs and technical services grows every day, one of the organization’s flagship events remains Greenprints: Sustainable Communities by Design. GEFA has been proud to Co-Host the Greenprints Conference with Southface since the event first convened in 1998.

While paving the way for other green building conferences nationwide, Greenprints remains dedicated to being the Southeast’s most affordable, hands-on learning experience. Our success has been made possible by the support and involvement of our participants from the commercial and residential design and construction communities, leaders in energy and land use policy and our sponsors and exhibitors.

Last year, over 1,200 attendees participated in Greenprints. This year, Southface and GEFA are partnering with the Urban Land Institute Atlanta District Council, EarthCraft House and the U.S. Green Building Council to develop a comprehensive agenda addressing policy, community planning and residential and commercial design and construction. Every stakeholder in sustainability will find resources and tools that will enable them to make a difference. In this issue of the Southface Journal, the Greenprints experience is highlighted as part of Southface’s remarkable effort to remain a central force in transforming the market toward energy and resource efficient practices. Enjoy this publication, and mark your calendar to join us at Greenprints 2004, March 18 and 19, in Atlanta!
