Barcik
Director of Technical Services, LEED AP
Mike Barcik is a senior research engineer and the Director of Technical Services at Southface. His areas of expertise include design reviews, building diagnostics, and energy performance modeling. A graduate from Georgia Tech with a bachelors and masters degree in mechanical engineering, he has previously conducted research in high-efficiency mechanical systems.
With a passion for training, Mike has led thousands of workshops and charrettes on high-performance residential and commercial buildings. He is a RESNET-approved Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Trainer, member of the State of Georgia Energy Code Task Force, ASHRAE member, and a LEED Accredited Professional. He is the only person selected as both a USGBC LEED for Homes and a USGBC LEED - NC Faculty member. Mike lives in Decatur with his much smarter, architect wife Tiffany, two young daughters, and wiener dog in a 1920’s bungalow that they are continuously working on to sustainably improve.

Weatherization Program Manager
Sean Bleything joined Southface in 2005. As the Manager of EarthCraft House, Sean oversees all program administration, operations and development. Sean also assisted with the development of and oversees the EarthCraft Light Commercial program. He teaches several trainings for Southface including, Selling the EarthCraft House, EarthCraft House Builder Training and HVAC for Builders. Sean holds a degree in History for the University of Kansas.

Dave Boles has been the controller for Southface since November, 1999. He comes to us from the HealthCare industry. He is a Certified Public Accountant with over fifteen years experience. Bracey
Commerical Green Building Services Technical Project Manager
John’s focus is energy assessments, high performance and green building training, and LEED consulting/training. John is also working on performance monitoring and data analysis of the Southface Eco Office. Prior to joining Southface, John spent five years working on energy performance modeling, energy auditing, and rate analysis for commercial and industrial clients. Supporting these efforts, he developed web-based software to streamline building audits, data management and controls, incorporating energy usage into regular business operations.
John holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, and lives with his wife and two boys in Chamblee.

Greg Brough
Publishing Director & Webmaster
Greg Brough joined the staff of Southface in 1994, and is responsible for the development of educational and marketing publications, website environments and exhibits. He has been recognized by several awards, including the PIAG Print Excellence Award for the Southface Journal. He has over 30 years of experience in the U.S. and abroad as a design professional in museums, design studios/advertising agencies and educational institutions.
Greg has an interdisciplinary BS degree from the New College at the University of Alabama and lives in a high-performance, restored historic bungalow in Decatur (a Leila Ross Wilburn house) with his wife and two boys. He is an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 18 in Decatur.

Frank
Burdette
Commercial Green Building Services Project Manager, LEED AP
Frank Burdette, Project Manager with Southface Commercial Green Building Services, works with design and construction professionals, as well as developers and property managers, to facilitate the sustainable practices established by the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED rating system. Frank also manages the Grants to Green program, a partnership with The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta and Enterprise Community Partners that provides knowledge and funding for local non-profits to green their operations and facilities and reduce their utility costs. Frank also leads the Southface Sustainability Initiative, a team tasked with minimizing the organization’s carbon footprint.
Recent projects in Frank’s 20 years of construction management include the Southface Eco Office, a 10,000sf office and green building demonstration project tracking LEED platinum certification, and the three LEED-certified buildings comprising the Woodward Middle School in College Park, GA. As LEED administrator, Frank was instrumental to the Klaus Advanced Computing Building at Georgia Tech achieving a LEED gold certification. A proponent of reuse, Frank managed the historic renovation of The Bottleworks, a mixed-use project in Athens, GA, and the first project in that city awarded a Federal Rehabilitation Tax Credit. Frank holds a Masters in Historic Preservation from the University of Georgia, and a B.S. in Biology from Millsaps College in Jackson, MS.

LaTaunynia joined Southface in 2006 as an EarthCraft House Inspector and Office Administrator. She is the Southface LEED for Homes Manager. As the LEED for Homes Manager, she leads the Southface providership in servicing projects throughout the southeast. She is trained and knowledgeable in green building site inspections, site diagnostic testing and Home Energy Rating (HERS) energy modeling.
LaTaunynia holds a BS in Art and Design from Massachusetts Institute of Technology School of Architecture with Building Technology concentration and a BS in Construction Management from Georgia Institute of Technology.
In her spare time, she enjoys traveling with her family. She spent three years living and working in Japan as an English Language teacher.

Capps
Residential Green Building Services Director, LEED AP
As the Director of Residential Green Building Services for Southface, Laura Capps oversees the residential team. Laura has also served as program manager for LEED for Homes, Building America, Zero Energy Homes, Million Solar Roofs Initiative and ALA Health House. Laura conducts several trainings for Southface including the EarthCraft House Builder, EarthCraft House Realtor, Mold and Moisture, HVAC for Builders and Home Energy Rating trainings. Laura is certified as a RESNET Trainer, Universal Refrigerant Technician and an eScan operator, and serves on the US Green Building Council LEED for Homes Faculty and NeighborWorks Training Institute Faculty. Laura is the Vice-Chair for the Georgia Solar Energy Association and a member of the American Solar Energy Society, Southface and the Georgia Conservancy. She graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in Sustainable Development and Appropriate Technology.

Cater
EarthCraft House Manager of Development and Communications
Ted
Cater joined Southface in 2007 as the manager of development
and communications for EarthCraft House. He manages sponsor
and builder relations, as well as facilitates the marketing
strategy for the program. Prior to Southface, Ted worked for
Turner Broadcasting Systems as a marketing/sales promotion
executive and Miller-Reid Ad Agency as an account manager.
He was also a distributor manager for Armstrong Building Products
and an advanced trainer and mentor for Wright Medical Technologies.
Ted holds a B.A. in economics from Emory University.

Stephen
Christensen
EarthCraft House Regional Program Manager
Stephen began his career with Southface in 2006 as a Technical Advisor in the metro Atlanta area for EarthCraft House, Southface’s residential green building certification program. Stephen was introduced to green building techniques in 2000 as Materials and Logistics Coordinator for Habitat for Humanity-Detroit. He continues to be involved with Habitat for Humanity as a volunteer skilled supervisor for the Atlanta affiliate. He currently promotes green building throughout the Southeast by training and managing EarthCraft House Regional technical advisors and builders. Stephen has a bachelor’s degree from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and a J.D. from Wayne State University Law School in Detroit. Stephen’s interests include playing clawhammer banjo and Detroit.

Christina first joined Southface in 2005 as an intern. After leaving for Ghana, West Africa to research urban planning & design as a Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholar for one year, she returned to work at Southface providing charrette facilitation, plan reviews and developer support as part of the EarthCraft Communities program and other community design efforts at Southface.
Prior to calling Atlanta home, Christina earned a B.A. in Environment and Society from New College at The University of Alabama. She interned with the downtown revitalization nonprofit, Main Street Mobile, and worked with the Kettering Foundation to research, facilitate and teach the process of deliberative decision-making. When not at Southface, Christina enjoys cycling, gardening and playing guitar.

Dennis
Creech
Executive Director, LEED AP
Mr. Creech was a co-founder of the Southface Energy Institute, a private nonprofit organization providing education, technical assistance and research in energy, sustainable technologies, and applied building sciences. He has served as Executive Director for over 30 years.
Under his leadership Southface has grown to a staff of over 45 people offering programs on residential and commercial green buildings, sustainable development and energy policy. Annually Southface programs reach over 45,000 people and receive more than 200 million media impressions. Southface program partners range from Fortune 100 companies to community-based affordable housing developers. Southface is an affiliate of the US Green Building Council, a RESNET accredited provider and training organization and a partner with the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association on the EarthCraft House green building program.
Mr. Creech has served on the Board of Directors of RESNET, the Energy and Environmental Building Association, Affordable Comfort, the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association, the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance, the Southeast Watershed Forum and EarthShare Georgia. He has served on numerous policy bodies for federal and local government, the foundation community and industry, and is an alumnus of the Regional Leadership Institute and the Institute for Georgia Environmental Leadership.
Mr. Creech is a LEED Accredited Professional, has been an Adjunct Professor in Environmental Studies at Emory University and has received numerous professional awards including the Georgia Environmental Professional of the Year, a Legacy Award from the Energy and Environmental Building Association and designation as one of the “100 Most Influential Georgians” by Georgia Trend.
Mr. Creech frequently writes and speaks on energy and environmental topics ranging from “green” building to sustainable business practices. He often serves as a media spokesperson and has been featured by sources ranging from CNN to the New York Times.
Before founding Southface, Mr. Creech did research at the Georgia Tech Engineering Experiment Station and was Deputy Director of Atlanta 2000, a nonprofit regional planning organization. He has worked as a field ecologist conducting research on nutrient cycling in forest ecosystems. He works in a green office building, lives in an environmentally-restored 1950s ranch-style home and drives a hybrid vehicle.

Roxanne Greeson

Denise Grimm joined the Southface staff in the summer of 2007. She has a BSEH degree in Environmental Health from the University of Georgia. At Southface, she provides project management support for high performance and green building design projects, including LEED administration and green building consultation. She is also program manager for the EarthCraft Light Commercial Pilot program, a Southface program designed to promote green building strategies and technologies for smaller scale commercial projects. Some of her other projects include grant work, such as ENERGY STAR for K-12 Schools and the EPA’s initiative to improve indoor air quality on the college campus.

Candice
Moore Groves
Commercial Green Building Services Project
Manager, AIA, LEED AP
Candice comes to Southface with 10 years of experience in architecture and planning. She is a Registered Architect as well as a LEED Accredited Professional. She has experience in a wide variety of commercial building types including office, hospitality, medical, civic, religious, and education. She holds a masters degree in Architecture from the Savannah College of Art & Design and serves on the Committee of the Environment for the Atlanta Chapter of the AIA.
Candice is currently working on a number of commercial building projects and grants. ENERGY STAR for Commercial Buildings – specifically K-12 schools – is a follow-up to the Energy Smart Schools grant that she managed. She has been working on several LEED facilities with the Metro Atlanta YMCA organization as well as with the City of Atlanta Fire Department. She is working on a research grant for greening of Army facilities and has worked with the USGBC in registering the Atlantic Station commercial buildings as a pilot project in the LEED for Campus program. Candice has conducted numerous charrettes and trainings for commercial building owners, architects, engineers, and contractors. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to reach out, give back to, and educate her peers and colleagues in Atlanta and the Southeast!

Harvey
EarthCraft House Renovation Manager and Regional Associate
Daniel Harvey began working with Southface in August of 2006. Involved in the green building industry since 1998, he has extensive experience in carpentry, masonry, home energy efficiency retrofits, sealed crawlspace installation, spray-applied insulation, and recycling services. Daniel attended Berea College in Berea Kentucky, where he was an early participant in the Sustainability and Environmental Studies (SENS) program.

Steve
Herzlieb
Residential Green Building Services Project Manager
Steve works primarily
with existing single-family homes and manages the Home Performance
with ENERGY STAR program. He joined Southface in 2005 as an
EarthCraft House Inspector for new homes. He then switched
his focus to existing homes and managed the EarthCraft House
Renovation program. Steve is certified as a Building Analyst
and Examination Proctor by the Building Performance Institute.
In a previous lifetime, Steve conducted marine research and instructed conservation education programs. He has a B.S. in Marine Biology from the University of the Virgin Islands. Steve and his family enjoy the low energy bills and other benefits of living in their EarthCraft home in Douglasville, GA. Steve creates free time for enjoying parenthood, mountain biking, SCUBA diving, fossil collecting, nature photography and composing electronic music.

Brandon Jones, LEED® AP
Commercial Green Building Services Manager
Brandon Jones joined Southface in August of 2008. As the Commercial Green Building Services Manager he oversees Green Building consulting services and LEED project administration, LEED AP trainings and Sustainability Education, our Earthcraft Light Construction program, Energy Modeling and Audit services, along with our Commercial Grant programs. Brandon serves as Southface’s representative to the board of both the Atlanta Regional Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council and the South East Regional Council of the USGBC.
Brandon received his B.S. in Building Science with a Minor in Architecture from Auburn University and has spent over 12 years in the design and construction industry. His experience includes Operations and Financial Management, Pre-Construction Management and Cost Estimating. Additionally, Brandon was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Zambia, Africa where he worked as a Water & Sanitation Health Engineer and also worked with the Auburn University Rural Studio as a Project Manager/Teaching Assistant.
Brandon currently resides in Midtown Atlanta with his wife and two cats.

Kane
EarthCraft House Technical Advisor
John brings a wealth of experience to his role as an EarthCraft Technical Advisor. Prior to joining Southface, he framed custom homes in Florida, served as a nuclear reactor operator and instructor on both coasts and in the Pacific, and worked as a construction superintendent and remodeling contractor in the Southeast.
John enjoys bicycling, backpacking, and motorcycle adventures with his friends and family. In his free time he tends a garden filled with fruit, vegetables, flowers, native plants, and a well-fed assortment of wildlife.
He lives in Marietta with his wife Carrie, an educator. They have a son in college and a daughter in graduate school.

Kelly
Director of Sustainable Development
Gray has almost
15 years of experience in both residential and commercial
real estate development and management. Prior to joining Southface
in 2003, he was Vice President of Retail Properties at Paces
Properties, Inc. (developer of Vinings Jubilee, Atlanta 's
first "Lifestyle" retail center) and a Project Manager
for Design Construction by Craftmaster, a custom home builder
in north Atlanta.
Gray has primary
responsibility for the EarthCraft Multifamily and EarthCraft
communities Programs at Southface which are Green Building
Certification Programs and has gained much experience with
developers of affordable housing through these programs and
through work with Enterprise .
He attended the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he majored
in industrial relations and sociology. He lives with his wife,
Kim, and two dogs off the square in Marietta.

Scott has been with Southface for the past five years gaining experience in all facets of sustainable residential construction and is presently working as the Manager of Southface’s Affordable Housing Initiative and as an EarthCraft Multifamily program Associate. He has experience providing trainings on various green building practices including those that can be incorporated in to residential projects for no or low additional cost. Scott attended the University of Georgia at Athens and San Jose State University where he majored in Resource Economics and Environmental Studies respectively.

EarthCraft Multifamily Associate
Matt graduated from Rutgers University in 2007 with a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning. His studies focused on environmental planning efforts such as sustainable land use strategies, pedestrian and bicycle planning, and brownfields redevelopment. During his time at Rutgers he became interested in alternative energy sources, resource conservation and green building strategies, and realized the importance of uniting these elements with planning to ensure sustainable urban growth. Matt hopes to learn more about green building science through his work at Southface and looks forward to advancing environmentally responsible development in the Atlanta region.

Mayfield
Director of Development
Sandy Mayfield is the Director of Development and is responsible for facilitating private gift support for Southface’s programs and services. With degrees in English and counseling from Georgia State University, she has over 20 years of fundraising experience in Atlanta’s nonprofit arena. She lives in East Point with her teenagers and Bijon Frises. Her interests include gardening, running and motorcycle riding.

Russ recently joined the Southface family as Education Manager. He brings over 15 years training experience to the position. He is the former South Atlanta Manager for McIver Custom homes, which specialized in infield design and construction of custom single-family residences.
He has served as president and vice president of the Historic College Park Neighborhood Association. Russ is a native Atlantan and currently resides in College Park. He enjoys traveling and camping with his wife, daughter and friends.

Home Services Project Manager
Glenn manages residential projects including Home Energy Ratings, Manual J Load Calculations, Duct Designs, Design Reviews, and Home Assessments for Southface Home Service. He has experience in overseeing independent HERS raters under the Southface Energy Rated Homes Providership and performing Home Energy Ratings, Manual J Load Calculations, and Home Assessments for the Southface Home Services Team. He also helps teach the performance software portion of the Home Energy Rating course.
Glenn graduated in 2005 with a degree in Anthropology from the University of Kansas. He joined Southface in 2007 to use his analytical background in Anthropology to do Home Energy Ratings.

Office Manager
Alice’s undergraduate training was in education and she later went on to receive an MBA in management. Her experience and background in business management and teaching bring many years of skill and enterprise to Southface. Raffield
Manager of Information
Technology and Database Systems
Erin joined the staff at Southface
in 2005; she is responsible for IT management and maintaining
Southface’s database systems. Erin comes to Southface
with a background in non-profit organizations. Currently
Erin is supervising the new additions to the IT infrastructure
at Southface as we complete construction of the Eco Office
and renovations to the existing Resource Center. Erin graduated
from Clemson University with a degree in Communications.
She also holds a Master of Divinity degree from Mercer University.
Erin is married to Chris, a sales engineer for Hewlett-Packard,
and they have two sons. Erin
and her family live in a renovated historic building in downtown
Atlanta, which is on the National Register of Historical
Places.

Robert
Reed
Sustainable Communities
Design Director
Robert E. Reed, joined Southface in 2008 as Sustainable Communities Design Director to support and promote the EarthCraft Communities program for which he was a key stakeholder in the development of the program criteria. Since graduating from Georgia Tech in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science from the College of Architecture, Robert has been at the forefront of community planning in the Southeast region. He co-led the community interaction and architectural guidelines process for the award winning Chattahoochee Hill Country Land Use Plan. The Atlanta Regional Commission and the American Society of Landscape Architects recognized the plan as a Development of Excellence for its public participatory process and visionary planning. The Atlanta Regional Commission has recognized Robert three additional times with Development of Excellence Awards as the principal designer of Sutherland Place and Lampkin Street Cottages and as a design team member for Eastlake Commons which also received the World Habitat Award in 2001.
Robert is a four-time winner of the Atlanta Urban Design Commission Award for Contextual Infill for homes and communities designed in the historic neighborhoods of Inman Park, Candler Park and Old Fourth Ward. Robert’s designs have been included in some of the region’s most sustainable communities, including Glenwood Park, Tributary, Cuscowilla and Jonesboro’s new Historic District.
Additionally, Robert is lead facilitator for Southface in its participation in Atlanta’s Green Building Task Force which is developing a building code to meet Mayor Franklin’s commitment to Zero Carbon emissions from new buildings by 2030. He is an original steering committee member of Southface’s Sustainable Atlanta Roundtable.
Robert is a third generation Atlanta native and downtown resident as well as an avid outdoorsman. Depending on the season you can find him boating, camping, cycling, and hiking throughout Georgia with Marci Reed his wife of 19 years.

Bourke
joined Southface in August 2008. He received a Master of Heritage
Preservation from Georgia State University in 2004. Prior
to joining Southface, Bourke worked with Main Street, the
National Trust for Historic Preservation commercial district
revitalization program. His background is in community education
and outreach, program management, and research and documentation
of the built environment.
In his
spare time, Bourke is an avid amateur photographer, vinyl
record collector, and thrift store scavenger.

Roberts
Home Services Program Manager
Sydney
G. Roberts is the Southface Home Services Program Manager
on the Residential Green Building Services team. Sydney manages
the team responsible for residential client services, Home
Performance with ENERGY STAR, EarthCraft House Renovation,
and the HERS Providership, as well as several federally funded
projects. Dr. Roberts is the principle investigator and project
manager for the Southern Energy Efficiency Center, Building
America, and Home Performance with ENERGY STAR. Additionally,
she teaches courses and provides one-on-one training in these
and other fields. Sydney is a Home Energy Rater and a BPI
Building Analyst. She also serves on the BPI Standards
Technical Committee. Sydney earned her Ph.D. in mechanical
engineering from Stanford University studying the application
of engineering principles to medical and biological problems.
She has since performed research, managed projects, taught
courses, and supervised customer support in computer simulation
and medical device industries. At Southface, Sydney has married
her technical and managerial skills with her passion for sustainable
living through the application of building science, energy
performance modeling, and site inspection and testing.

Building Services Project Manager
Anne joined Southface as an intern in July 2006 to help building owners and designers understand practical green building and energy efficiency measures. As a Project Manager for the CGBS team and a LEED® Accredited Professional she acts as LEED® administrator for numerous innovative projects both in Atlanta and around the Southeast, and has coordinated the LEED Gold Certification process for Georgia Tech’s Klaus Advanced Computing Building. Currently her main LEED® projects include Validation of a High Performance Sustainable Building for the U.S. Army at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the Southface Eco Office, and six office and retail facilities in Louisiana and Georgia for W.W. Grainger, Inc. She completed four educational modules for the Southface Online Training program under the Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) grant for Greening Federal Facilities in the Southeast, and continues to develop modules for Southface’s Online Training program. Anne has also conducted LEED study sessions and workshops for building professionals.
Anne hails from Ann Arbor, Michigan and graduated from Denison University with a B.A. in Environmental Studies and Biology. Aside from her work at Southface, Anne enjoys making art of all kinds, hiking, reading, and seeing the world.

Ruth Ann Rosenberg
Ruth Ann is Southface’s Membership Director and Internship Coordinator. Over the years, Ruth Ann has specifically worked with younger employees in many capacities and has experience in membership recruitment and liaison work with organizational stakeholders. She has also owned and operated her own landscape design firm where she educated clients on the benefits of regional design and the use of native plants. Ruth Ann will serve as the 2009 Project Manager for Southface’s annual Greenprints Conference.
Ruth Ann has a BA in History and Far Eastern Studies from the University of Washington (Seattle) and a certificate in ornamental horticulture and landscape design from the English Gardening School, Chelsea Physick Garden, London, England

James Rudd
Building America Project Manager
James joined Southface in Feb 2009 as the project manager responsible for the DOE funded Building America Program. James obtained his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. During his time at Georgia Tech, he was involved with a DoE initiative which provided free energy audits to manufacturing facilities. After leaving Georgia Tech, he worked for the DoD as a nuclear engineer and later as an project leader and engineer at Gulfstream Aerospace. During his tenure at Gulfstream, he worked several triple-bottom-line projects which eventually led to the formation of the Gulfstream’s corporate-wide Sustainability Core Team. As project manager for Building America, he combines his leadership experience, technical knowledge and enthusiasm for sustainable development.

Lauren joined Southface as in intern in May 2008 after graduating from the University of Georgia with a B.S.E.S. in Environmental Economics in Management and a minor in Spanish. Lauren has worked on LEED documentation for Southface’s Eco Office, IKEA North American Headquarters, and the Lovett School. She has also worked on various other projects such as Grants to Green, a program that provides energy assessments for nonprofits, Green Roofs for Healthy Cities, a green infrastructure program, and is helping with the development of EarthCraft for Light Commercial. As a fellow, Lauren hopes to become even more familiar with green building practices and sustainable development, and is working towards becoming a LEED Accredited Professional. Prior to Southface, Lauren worked at UC Berkeley’s Center for Forestry and served as a Physical Science Technician with the Environmental Protection Agency.

Residential Green Building Services Quality Assurance Manager
Eurihea joined Southface in 2008 to focus his skills, knowledge, and passion for the environment on achieving a sustainable world. With over two decades of experience in the residential construction industry, and a residential renovation contractor for 14 years, he is responsible for managing the Southface Energy Rated Homes Providership and providing quality assurance for the Southface residential programs.
Eurihea earned a BBA in Real Estate from Georgia State University in 2005 and attended Syracuse University as a Construction Management undergrad. Eurihea is a native of central New York and currently resides in Atlanta with his fiancée, greyhound, cat, and African dwarf frogs. When he is not working to save the environment, he can usually be found hiking in the Appalachians or skiing in New England.

Robert joined the residential team at Southface in May 2008 and works with the LEED for Homes program providing project review and technical assistance. In addition, he manages two EPA grant projects – the state radon grant and Healthy Energy Efficient Homes. He holds a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech University, and his past work experience includes energy assessments for existing buildings as well as energy modeling for LEED NC projects.
Born and raised in the Atlanta area, Robert currently lives with his wife in Decatur.

Facilities Manager
Chris has served Southface for 7 years supervising the maintenance and performance of our showcase buildings and grounds. Additionally, he provides logistical help for most events, classes and conferences. A Pennsylvania native, he earned a B.S. in Environmental Science and Studio Art from Allegheny College in 1998.
Many of Chris’ personal passions overlap his work here: Energy conservation and alternative/renewable power systems, community building, permaculture, rainwater harvesting, and natural construction materials. He also splashes in the creek, climbs trees, and rides his bicycle.
Occasionally, Chris takes another step forward on the complete rehabilitation of his 1920’s Grove Park bungalow.

Laura joined the Southface team in the spring of 2008 as Office Manager for the EarthCraft House program and Residential Green Building Services Database Manager. She is responsible for the administrative duties and database upkeep that coincide with the EarthCraft House single-family program, EarthCraft House Regional, and Home Performance with Energy Star.
An East Tennessee native, Laura brings with her experience in rural sustainability. She is an AmeriCorp-AppalachiaCARES alumni and spent 6 years with the USDA/NRCS Resource Conservation and Development program in the Clinch-Powell River Valley. She attended Emory & Henry College in southwest Virginia where she majored in Public Policy and Community Service. Laura currently resides in east Atlanta with her fiancé.

David Wasserman is a senior engineer at Southface. He has 20 years of experience at Oak Ridge National Lab where he did energy conservation research as well as pollution prevention and recycling management. He has owned and managed a home performance contracting business and founded the Knoxville Recycling Coalition in Knoxville, Tennessee. At Southface David is the resident expert on energy modeling of commercial buildings and has submitted numerous energy models for LEED building certification. He has also performed numerous commercial and residential energy and comfort complaint inspections. He is a graduate of Cornell University and the University of Tennessee with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering. David is a LEED Accredited Professional and a member of ASHRAE.

Adam started his history with Southface as a volunteer working construction on the Eco Office in the summer of ‘07. After a couple full days of volunteering, the project manager, Frank Burdette, decided to hire him to do full time construction for the rest of the summer. Adam returned to Southface after graduating college as an intern in the spring of 2008. Shortly after, he was hired as a Commercial Green Building Fellow. Adam gained LEED experience while aiding in the Eco Office documentation process and as his fellowship training continues, he is working as a LEED Administrator for a few projects. These projects include two IKEAs, one in Brooklyn NY and the other in West Chester OH, and the Callaway Gardens Sales Center in Pine Mountain GA.
Adam is from Atlanta and graduated from The George Washington University with a B.A. in Environmental Studies and a minor in GIS. He has a true passion for sustainability and has been involved with environmental initiatives through school clubs, canvassing, and volunteer work.
