White
House Photovoltaic Expert Leads Solar Powered Design Workshop
at Greenprints 2003
Atlanta, February 10, 2003
The designer of the solar power
system installed on the White House this summer holds a full-day
workshop in Atlanta, teaching others how to use the sun to
make a positive environmental impact.
Greenprints: Sustainable Communities
by Design, Southface Energy Institute's annual green building
conference, has national solar expert Steven Strong teaching
about integrating Photovoltaics (PV) in building design. The
Solar Powered Design Workshop is a pre-conference event from
8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Feb. 12, with the full Greenprints conference
and tradeshow Feb. 13 and Feb. 14.
Attracting attendees from North
Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Alabama and Washington
D.C., Strong's Wednesday workshop will concentrate on building
integration of photovoltaics (BIPV).
Strong will teach about implementing
the latest technologies, like the 167 solar electric panels
that were installed on the White House as well as more classic
solar practices like the two solar thermal systems created
for the Presidential residence.
Strong's ties to Atlanta include
work on BP's first solar-powered gas station, the BP on the
corner of Spring Street and North, and solar for the Olympic
Village Natatorium.
Greenprints fosters the Southface
mission to promote sustainable homes, workplaces and communities.
The conference presents quality learning opportunities for
those 'new' to being green and advanced practitioners of green
building. Greenprints provides a dynamic forum for design
and construction professionals to interact with experts, discover
alternatives and implement solutions that will guarantee an
ecologically sustainable future. For more information, go
