SOUTHFACE
RECEIVES A GRANT FROM THE KENDEDA FUND
TO
OFFER GREEN-BUILDING SERVICES TO METRO ATLANTA NONPROFITS
ATLANTA
(October 2, 2007) – Green-building nonprofit,
Southface Energy Institute today announced it has received
a grant from the Kendeda Fund to launch a Sustainable
Nonprofits Project to ‘green' Atlanta nonprofit organizations
over the next three years. The project gives qualified
metro Atlanta nonprofits the opportunity to renovate
or build healthier work places are energy and water
efficient, and are eco-friendly. The project will provide
nonprofits an opportunity to receive Southface green
building services with fees covered by the grant. Southface
offers commercial and residential green building consulting
services, ranging from design reviews, and energy audits
to sustainability training and education workshops designed
for building-science professionals, civic leaders and
organizations.
Eligible nonprofits may request grant
funding toward Southface green building services. Applications
are due by email on November 1, 2007.
"We hope numerous area nonprofits will be able
to enjoy the excellent assessment and construction support
services that Southface can offer. Recognizing that
most nonprofits are focused on non-environmental matters,
this program will allow these agencies to become more
sustainable and gain some utilities savings in the bargain,”
said Barry Berlin, representative, Kendeda Fund.
To submit an application, an organization
must pay the $50 application fee and meet specific eligibility
requirements, including residing within one of the 23
counties of metro Atlanta: Barrow, Bartow, Butts, Carroll,
Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette,
Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Hall, Morgan, Newton,
Paulding, Pickens, Rockdale, Spalding or Walton. For
